"WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE IS THIS: YOU ARE BUILT NOT TO SHRINK DOWN TO LESS, BUT TO BLOSSOM INTO MORE. TO BE MORE SPLENDID. TO BE MORE EXTRAORDINARY. TO USE EVERY MOMENT TO FILL YOURSELF UP.
Community is a huge part of what propels me. Connecting with other Creatives and Makers and Badass Biznatches feeds my soul and inspires my vision. You can find me spilling my emotions over at #EffingWords, a Writing Collective co-founded by myself and two seriously fierce women who I consider among the Chiefs of My Tribe.
If you’re a Maker, a Boss Babe, an Entrepreneur, an Indie Author, or somewhere in between, you might check out the Meraki Collective (coming soon). And for those looking to get a little inspiration on, check out my Writing Prompts and newest publication- Inspired.
My name is brooke...
Funny story how I got that name. Has something to do with a little girl that resembled the Quilted Northern Toilet Paper girl. So yes, I am sort of named after toilet paper. =/
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero. Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

I geek out…
Writing is one of my passions and has been since I was little bitty. I wrote my first book in third grade and was thrilled when my school decided to bind it and feature it in the Texas Bluebonnet Festival that year. Since then, I knew that I wanted to become a published author. That has always been the ultimate goal…career-wise.
My desire to write is a lot more gritty and raw and ambitious than it ever has been. And it’s accompanied these days by a draw to creation within the virtual world. My inherent, entrepreneurial tendencies drive me to make my day dreams into something more.
Covered in Grace was my home on the web for a good spell. And, just as life will do, that blog has seen its share of seasons and change. Content and mission focus adjusted and re-adjusted around there. What can I say, I like to let my passions grow organically and authentically. More on that here>>
I have undergone a major evolution of writing style and skill level since 2009 when I published my very first post. I began as a wandering, aspiring writer with no real, formal training and morphed into a free-spirited, college-educated writer who loves breaking all the rules. I want to be a jack of all trades in the writing world, but constantly find myself looking back to the original theme of my blogging past- perhaps I had it right back when I wrote my very second post?
Myspace is where my love for web design and online publishing began. I have since progressed through the Blogger design realm and into the WordPress platform. I’m utilizing a multitude of themes and child-themes. I’m playing with color, imagery, SEO content, and website building. My skills are born of hobby and my learning is self-guided. I love it. Let me say that again… I LOVE IT.
